The Indio Water Authority was formed in the year 2000 to provide water services to residents, visitors and businesses of the City of Indio and some unincorporated areas of Indio Hills. Today, IWA serves more than 77,000 customers in its nearly 38 square mile service area.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality, most reliable source of water in an effective and fiscally responsible manner, while promoting the highest stardard to our customers, and maintaining excellent customer service through highly motivated, customer oriented employees. As a local, independent provider, IWA is focused on what is best for the City of Indio, and will continue to keep the community's needs in the forfront as the agency plans for the future.
Indio's ideal winters make it a popular destination for many part-time residents and seasonal visitors who travel here from around the world to enjoy polo, hiking, world renowned festivals, spas, fine dining, upscale shopping, and championship-level golf. Indio is a desert where mild winters give way each year to fierce summers with temperatures rising to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. With an annual rainfall average of three inches, water conservation is critical in Indio.
